Chelsea Lanese, Owner/Instructor/Competition Director
Chelsea Lanese has loved dancing all her life, and while most young dancers entertained fantasies of fame Chelsea dreamt of sharing her passion through teaching. In the 15 years since she began her technical training with the National Champion Hartford Energizers Dance Team, Chelsea has worked toward opening her own studio with the goal of providing affordable dance education that fosters a lifelong love of dance in her students.
During her ten years with the Hartford Energizers, Chelsea danced her way to more than 10 National Championship titles in addition to earning several awards for spirit and leadership and dancing at the 2004 Super Bowl in Houston, Texas. At just 15 years of age, Chelsea began coaching the Hartford Energizers Pre-Team, and after graduating from high school she taught creative movement, hip hop (Chelsea’s favorite dance genre), and musical theater classes as well as coaching a high school team.
In 2008 Chelsea became a Parade Performer at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, where she met her husband, Matt. When the two moved to the Seattle area in 2009 Chelsea was ready to make her dream a reality, and Emerald City Dance was born. Since then Chelsea has successfully partnered with the Issaquah Community Center, the City of Maple Valley and 5 local schools to make dance accessible to hundreds of local children. Chelsea’s character, talent, and ability to create age-appropriate lessons that make skill-building fun have made her program popular with local families. Chelsea loves sharing her passion with young dancers and looks forward to continuing to build her program with the opening of her Sammamish studio.
