Class Level Placements & Naming Conventions
Class Level Descriptions:
The following descriptions are the guidelines dancers and families should use when deciding on which classes to register for. If you are unsure which level to select we are happy to meet with you and/or your dancer to do a placement assessment to help guide you in the right direction.
New dancers with no dance experience, generally 4-6 years old. Classes will be geared toward introduction to dance, basic technique, beginning vocabulary and class etiquette.
This level is for new dancers with little to no dance experience. Classes will be geared toward learning dance technique, vocabulary and foundations. We offer classes for younger dancers to adults. Please note age levels in the class schedule.
Level 1 (Ages 6-9)
Classes are geared towards dancers with less than 2 years of dance training.
Level 2 (Ages 10-13)
Classes are geared towards dancers with 2+ years of dance training. Most demonstrate a basic knowledge and foundation of dance training skill and vocabulary.
Level 3 (Ages 14+)
Classes are geared toward dancers with 4+ years of dance training. Dancers must demonstrate strong knowledge and have a foundation of dance training skill and vocabulary. Placement at this level is based on assessment.
Level 4 (Ages 14+)
Classes are Geared toward dancers with 6+ years of dance training. Dancers must demonstrate advanced knowledge and have a foundation of dance training skill and vocabulary. Placement at this level is based on assessment.
ECDC Competitive Company Naming Conventions:
The following naming conventions define the different levels of placement for the ECDC Competitive Dance Team.
Arise (Beginner Level): To emerge, begin to occur.
Crescendo (Junior Level): A steady increase in force or intensity.
Fluorescence (Intermediate Level): The process of flowering.
Effloresce (Advanced Level): The optimum stage of development, bursting.
