Emily Sana

Pre-Pointe / Pointe Instructor

  • Performed with Vanderbilt University's Momentum Dance Group, Jacksonville Ballet Theatre (Jacksonville, FL), and the Jacksonville Symphony Nutcracker. She studied under Marta Jackson (Florida) and Kathy Thibodeaux of Ballet Magnificat! (Jackson, Mississippi.).

  • More than a decade combined of teaching at Ballet Bellevue (Washington), Capitol Hill Arts Workshop in Washington, D.C., and Seattle Rhythmic Gymnastics. She led summer workshops in youth dance and choreography in 1997-2000, for Grace Academy of Fine Arts in Florida.

  • Performed repertoire as a demi-solist and in corps de ballet in regional ballet productions of Raymonda, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, and many new works. She worked under Cuban-American choreographer Alberto Alonso to birth the world premiere of his Prelude y Zapateado, to the music of Ginastera. She recently performed in the Seattle Symphony's staging of Leonard Bernstein's Wonderful Town at Benaroya Hall.

  • Bachelor of Science in Human and Organization Development and Music, concentrating on voice and choral music. She has been a member of the Seattle Symphony Chorale for twelve years and teaches music and conducts choral activities at a private school in Seattle.

  • Enjoys combining her music and dance backgrounds to develop musically sensitive dancers and to cultivate in them rhythmic acuity, artistry, and appreciation of the music of the great ballet suites.
