Studio Policies & Procedures
  • Emerald City Dance Complex Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE. NO CREDIT or REFUND is given for missed classes. We do not prorate for holidays, studio breaks, vacations, sickness, or missed classes.

  • At the time I register my dancer, annually in September I will be charged a one-time registration fee. $30 for 1 child, $45 for 2 or more children.

​

  • Tuition is due by the 1st of each month, payments received after the 1st of the month will be assessed a late fee per the following scale:

    • 2nd of the month will be assessed a late fee of $20.00

    • 3rd of the month will be assessed a late fee of $25.00

    • 4th of the month will be assessed a late fee of $30.00

    • 5th of the month will be assessed a late fee of $35.00

    • 6th of the month or beyond will result in your dancer being unable to participate in class until tuition is paid.

  • If you are aware of circumstances that will result in your tuition being late, please contact the ECDC Directors right away.

​

  • Emerald City Dance Complex accepts payment in the form of Check or other Electronic Services.

 

  • Other electronic services currently include: PayPal, Square Cash and Venmo

 

  • Please note that if paying via PayPal E-Check, it takes 3-5 days to process and deposit in our account.

    • Please plan to send PayPal E-check payments in advance of tuition due date, to ensure it does not arrive late.

    • If the PayPal E-Check clears after the 1st of the month please note that a late fee will be assessed to your account

    • Please contact the ECDC Directors for transfer information

  • If a check is returned NSF there will be a $35 charge.

 

  • If paying by any electronic method a service charge may be added.

 

  • Upon registration I will sign the Emerald City Dance Complex Liability Release/Waiver Form.

 

  • Emerald City Dance Complex reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at the owner’s discretion.

 

  • Emerald City Dance Complex will officially communicate with me throughout the season and year via email. Information may be repeated via text messaging.  
     

  • I understand it is my responsibility to read them so that I am aware of billing cycles, important dates or outside performances, enrollment for the following cycle, any attire or footwear my child may need; or any other important information that being a parent at Emerald City Dance Complex requires me to be informed of.

 

  • Emerald City Dance Complex’s non-company member dance season runs from September to June while the summer season runs during the month of July.

 

  • Emerald City Dance Complex class schedule is subject to change.

 

  • If 2 or fewer students show up for a scheduled class, that class may be cancelled by the instructor.

 

  • In the event of inclement weather, you will be informed via text or phone if the class schedule is impacted or the complex is to be closed.

 

  • Emerald City Dance Complex will adhere to the following holiday schedule:

    • October 31, 2023 - Halloween

    • November 20-24, 2023- Thanksgiving Break

    • December 18, 2023 - January 1, 2024 - Winter Break

    • January 15, 2024 - Martin Luther King Day

    • February 19- 23, 2024 - Mid-Winter Break

    • April 8 - 12, 2024 - Spring Break

    • May 27, 2024 - Memorial Day

 

  • I understand that class placement for my dancer(s) is at the discretion of the Emerald City Dance Complex director(s) and teachers.

 

  • I will communicate any questions or concerns regarding the teacher(s) or Emerald City Dance Complex directly with the ECDC Director’s, Moira or Mel.  I will not approach the teacher directly, but will look to Moira and/or Mel to communicate concerns with the teacher, or arrange a time outside of class to discuss the issue.

 

  • It is my responsibility to be on-time.  If I am running late, I will contact Emerald City Dance Complex via phone or text to let them know. I understand that my tardiness
    may result in a me sitting out of class. I acknowledge that it is up to my teacher's discretion if I am able to participate.

 

  • I understand that if I have scheduled a private lesson, rehearsal time or space rental with Emerald City Dance Complex and must cancel, I am required to provide notice via email 24 hours in advance of that time or I will be billed.

 

  • My dancer’s hair MUST be pulled up and out of their face to participate in class. In ballet class, it MUST be in a bun that will not fall out during class. Ponytails are acceptable in any other classes.

 

  • My dancer MUST wear appropriate dance wear, i.e. leotard, tights, jazz pants, booty shorts, yoga wear, tutus, and hip hop gear for hip hop only, are all acceptable. Jeans and baggy t-shirts are not. Each teacher will provide a dress code that my dancer must adhere to.

 

  • My dancer MUST wear appropriate dance shoes for the style of class they are taking.  Each teacher will provide approved shoes in their dress code.

 

  • I understand that gossip, obscene language or inappropriate conversations regarding students, teachers, directors, parents or coaches will not be tolerated by either parent(s)/guardian(s) or dancer. An ongoing problem by either the parent(s) / guardian(s) or dancer could result in a removal from the Emerald City Dance Complex program.

 

  • I understand that feedback, edits and corrections for dancers will be given by the teachers or ECDC Director’s.

 

  • Observers are asked to leave classroom and dancer management and to the teachers, coaches and ECDC Director’s. All observers are asked to please refrain from interacting with the dancers while they are in class. Teachers and coaches have requested that we work together to keep the dancers focused. In the event that distractions become to much, observers may be asked to leave the studio area.

 

  • There is no food, drink or gum allowed in the dance area of the studio.

 

  • By entering the studio, visitors/dancers consent to be photographed, recorded and/or filmed by Emerald City Dance Complex photographer(s)/videographer(s) and to have the photographs/recording/film reproduced and disseminated for internal, security, and promotional purposes.

 

  • I understand that Emerald City Dance Complex is not responsible for lost or stolen valuables. If your item has been misplaced please check out the Lost + Found. Items must be claimed in person. If items go unclaimed more than 30 days they will be donated to the swap box or given to a local charity.

 

  • IMPORTANT Dancer Etiquette:

At our studio, our primary goal is for your children to have fun while learning dance technique and a strong work ethic. We expect all dancers to show respect to themselves, each other and all instructors. You will see our instructors enforcing the following rules:

 

  • Be prepared for class. Proper dress code is required for all dance classes.

  • Hair must be pulled up and out of their face. Ballet requires hair in a bun that will not fall out.

  • Use bathroom prior to class.

  • Do not have frequent class absences.

  • No cell phones in the dance class space.

  • Cell phones are allowed in the lounge areas but proper cell phone etiquette must be followed.

  • No gum is allowed in class.

  • Be respectful and kind to instructors, peers and staff.

  • Do not talk during class unless you are asking a question.

  • Be willing to try new dance material. Put positive energy into your dance class.

  • No leaning, lounging or hanging on the Ballet Barres. 

  • If injured, tell instructor prior to class…work slowly & carefully or observe.

  • If ill, do not come to class.

  • If you must leave early, notify instructor prior to class.
